Debunking Common Myths About Dogs and Bathing

Did you know that there are myths surrounding dogs and bathing? It’s true, there are many myths which we pet parents believed were true but sadly they aren’t. Why do you ask? Well, because they’re myths and myths don’t carry enough concrete evidence for you to believe them. Anyhow, kudos to you if you know about myths relating to dogs and baths and err.. don’t worry if you haven’t yet because we are about to reveal them.

Myths About Bathing Your Dog

Here are some myths revolving around dogs and bathing that most of the pet parents actually believed were true.

Myth 1 – Dogs Do Not Require Frequent Baths

Sorry to burst your bubble but dogs do need frequent baths. There is no hard and fast rule that you have to bathe your pal once every month or once in two months. That depends on a number of factors because different breeds, different lifestyles and different fur type requires different bathing scheduling. But all breeds require regular baths to maintain proper hygiene. Ideally, twice every month should be your bathing schedule for your canine.

Myth 2 – Human Shampoo Can Be Used On Dogs

Have you been using your own shampoo on your dog? Stop it immediately. You must have seen or heard people talking about how they use human shampoo for strengthening their horse’s hair. This doesn’t mean you can use them on your dogs. No, absolutely not! Despite human shampoo being pretty effective in stripping off essential oils from the top layer of your pal’s skin, it can ruin it as well as the fur.

Myth 3 – Flea and Tick Shampoos are More Than Enough

Are you one of those pet parents who thought that applying flea and tick shampoo is enough to get rid of those creepy crawly creatures? Well, sorry to break it to you but that is certainly not enough. You still have to groom them well in order to get rid of fleas and ticks completely. Proper and thorough grooming like brushing your Fido’s fur is very essential apart from just shampooing him.

Myth 4 – Professional Groomers Bathe Dogs Better

This statement is not entirely true because while professional groomers will do a great job at bathing your dog, it is harsh to say that you cannot bathe them well enough at home. With necessary pieces of equipment and decent amounts of experience in dog bathing, even you can bathe your dog as good as a professional groomer would.

We hope you aren’t blown away after reading this because we didn’t mean to blow your mind. Also, don’t be harsh on yourself if you didn’t know any of them because it’s better to be late than never, right? And now you do know about it, so take a chill pill and relax.
