A Letter to a Dog Daddy Fathers Day Special

Father's Day is all about celebrating dads everywhere. While lots of pet dads get gifts, cards, and hugs from their loved ones, Chewie, a 4-year-old English bulldog, decided to write a special letter to his dad. We thought it was too cool not to share, so we have put it up here in appreciation of all the fantastic fur-fathers out there!

Dear Dad,

I love you a lot, and it is not just because you always give me treats. Even if it wasn't love at first sight for me, I've come to realise that no one can love me like you do.

To be honest, I disliked you back then because it was just me and my hooman mother, but I'm delighted you're here now. Remember how I barked at you when you came home for the first time to meet mum?

Mom used to give me toys to keep me occupied, but I would push them in the middle of you two when you were talking. But that was just to let you know that she is mine.

Eventually, I started liking you. You were the one who saved me from momma's scolding when I chomped up on her favourite bag and whenever I jumped up on the kitchen top to chase the birdie in the backyard.

But I also want to tell you that the window-facing seat on the dining table was mine, so I could always see mum sitting on the opposite chair. And, the right side of the bed was also mine.

So I don't like it when you put me on your left. But it is just because I want to lick your face while you're asleep, as you don't allow me to do that when you're awake.

And when you take me out on a drive, it is the best part of my day. I really enjoy sitting beside you when you drive and letting the fresh air strike my fur. Taking in all the smells on the way kinda makes my day.

Oh, and you can listen to my heart for real. You just know whenever I wanna hit the beach. Don't tell momma, but you run faster than her on the shore. I love our running and swimming sessions on the beach.

Also, thank you for bringing me new balls when I lost the old ones. And, thanks for all the stuffed toys you bring for me. Even when only the new toys you bring me grab my attention, I love my whole collection.

Even though I give you a hard time chasing me when you are trying to bathe or clean me, I appreciate all the efforts you make for me.

You never miss out on my monthly doses or pack my essentials whenever we go on a trip. I know mom loves you a lot for this.

You already know how happy I am after seeing you at the door when you are back from work.

Dad, I am delighted to have you in my life. Thank you for accepting me as part of my human mommy's family. I will always protect you too!

AND, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, DADDY. YOU ARE THE WORLD'S BEST DOG DAD!
