Spooky Halloween Dog Story - A Creature

Halloween is around the corner, and it's an exciting time for most people. But for some people, like me, who are gravely unfortunate, it's a reminder of our scarred past. I honestly don't like Halloween. It's not that I never liked it. I loved this festival when I was a kid. When everything was normal. When I wasn't scared.

I still remember how excited I used to get for the trick-or-treating, the costumes, and the endless supply of candy. But this one incident changed my life forever !

It happened 6 years ago. I was 17 and preparing for my final exams. One day, returning from high school, I found a dog pup. He was dark brown in color with big, dark eyes. His coat was a bit unusual and had patches of white and black circles. Usually, brown dogs don't have such unique markings. I didn't know what breed he was, but he was cute, so I decided to adopt him.

I got him home, gave him a bath, and fed him. By the evening my father got home, I told him that I had adopted a dog and was keeping him. He wasn't happy with it, but he didn't say no, so I got relieved. I named him Eshu. Yes, the Nigerian god deity, Eshu!

I have always called people dumb whenever I used to watch any horror or Halloween movie. How can you not identify a demonic presence when it's right in front of you? I couldn't see the dark secret Eshu's eyes were holding for me.

Eshu was different from other dogs. He never barked, he never wagged his tail, and he never showed any affection. He just stared at me with his dark eyes, as if he was waiting for something. He only ate when I was not around, and he never played with any toys. He was like a shadow, following me everywhere. But at night, he used to sleep outside the house.
My father got him a dog house, and this made him a bit happy, as most of his time was spent there. However, Eshu still remained distant and unresponsive to any attempts at bonding. Then things started getting more weird. Eshu started hunting other small animals like birds, rats, and even cats. We started hooking him up to his dog house. And his hunting stopped as he wasn't able to move around.

A week before Halloween, my father had to go to his friend's home for some work, and he told me he would return the next day, so I took Eshu inside the house.
That night still haunts my soul.

In the night, Eshu wanted to sleep in his dog house. But, as it was a festive time, there was a lot of noise and commotion outside. So I didn't allow him to do so. Somewhere around midnight, I heard some random voices in the house. I got afraid and stood up. I carefully looked around the house, and to my surprise, it was Eshu. His eyes were glowing red, and his coat was changing color. The white and black circles on his coat were turning into pentagrams and skulls.

I couldn't control myself, and I screamed in terror, and this woke him up. He then rushed towards me, trying to attack. I somehow managed to escape and lock myself in the room. I called my father to tell him everything, but he didn't believe me. But, as I was so scared and panicked, he said he'd be coming back and asked me to stay in the room until he arrived.
In about 30 minutes, my father arrived. I recognized the sound of his vehicle. I wanted to go out to him, but I didn't. I waited. Soon I heard a thud sound, and I rushed downstairs. My father was lying on the ground, covered in blood and pain.

I couldn't grasp the weight of the movement, and I stood there frozen. Then I called 911 for help and explained the situation to the operator. The ambulance arrived quickly, and my father was rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

On the next day, around 2 p.m., my father regained consciousness. I went to his hospital room and sat by his bedside. He looked weak and fragile, but there was a glimmer of relief in his eyes when he saw me.

Eshu disappeared after that incident. My father told the police about this, but they didn't believe in supernatural stuff. But they did post some posters of Eshu that mentioned that he was a dangerous dog.

This whole incident broke me, but the worst was yet to come.

On Halloween Eve, I and my father were at home. We have been receiving kids for trick-or-treating all evening. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, but when I opened it, there was no one there. Confused, I looked around and saw Eshu standing in the distance, his eyes glowing with an eerie intensity.

I quickly closed the door and rushed towards my father. I told him what happened, but when he checked, Eshu was nowhere near.

It's been 6 years, and I still see Eshu sometimes. With his scary eyes and mysterious presence, he continues to haunt my Halloween nights, leaving me with an unsettling feeling that I can't shake off.

I tried asking for help. My psychiatrist says that I am traumatized due to what happened that night. But I strongly believe what I see is really Eshu; he is coming for me.
