Question from Kathy
My dog has a crusty patch behind his ear which looks more like scabies to me. Can you suggest some topical solution for it?
Our Vet Says:
Hi Kathy,
You may use the topical solution Revolution to control and remove the scabies (Scabies is caused by a mite in the skin called Sarcoptes).  Please ensure you buy the correct weight category of Revolution as this prevents under dosing, which won’t cure the scabies and will prevent overdosing which may cause toxic side effects.
However, there may be other causes of crusty patches, your dog may have been scratching his ears which caused the patch and he/she rather has an ear infection.  It’s best to get him/her checked out by your local veterinarian so the skin problem doesn’t get worse.
